How To Cope During the Holidays

It's November! And I know all y'all Christmas super fans already have your music blasting and decorations pulled out just waiting to be put up.

BEFORE you do, just know that the Holiday season has been called one of the most stressful times of year. So much so, in fact, the Mayo Clinic came out with an article about 10 ways to Cope.

Honestly, with the addition of extra relatives AKA extra human interaction, things to do, and gift shopping, you have to be EXTRA intentional about caring for yourself AND your marriage.

I worked retail ONE TIME in my adult life during the holidays and I said never again!

Y’all. I was so stressed out! Those customers had me leaving work beyond pissed. Anthony got plenty of ear fulls. Not to mention, I had to cut family time short, squeeze in my shopping on my off days with everyone else, and still find time to spend with the Lord and take care of home.

So guess what happened. Anthony and I were pressed for time. I felt like I was apologizing every day for not being able to get some alone time with him.

Don’t be like me. Don't leave your Honey behind!

Even if you have to getaway for a few days, just the two of you, be intentional about caring for each other.

Here are 4 tips on how to do just that:

  • OVER COMMUNICATE - It's those pesky breakdowns of communication that cause unnecessary arguments

  • TAKE A BREATH - Deep breathing calms you and allows you to exhale stress

  • TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF - You're no good to anybody dead on your feet

  • SPEND TIME ALONE - While it is the season of giving, make sure you're recharged! You can't pour from an empty cup!
